Hiroshima is a city located in western Japan, on the island of Honshu. It is most famously known as the first city in the world to be targeted by a nuclear weapon on August 6, 1945.
Today, Hiroshima is a modern and vibrant city that has rebuilt itself since the bombing. Visitors can visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, which serves as a memorial to the victims of the atomic bombing and promotes peace and the elimination of nuclear weapons. The park includes several monuments and museums, such as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, which documents the bombing and its aftermath, and the Genbaku Dome, the only surviving building in the area that was directly hit by the bomb.
Hiroshima is also known for its local cuisine, particularly its okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) and oysters.
Hiroshima can reach by train or plane from other major cities in Japan. 1 hour 20 min journey from OSAKA. Japan Railways Shinkansen operates train from Shin-Osaka to Hiroshima every 20 minutes. Tickets cost 7500 – 11000 Yen. Better to buy a JR Pass.
